The Zapata label is proud to introduce the Koumori 2.0, a masterful reimagining of our flagship "Singing Bat" mouthpiece. This ultra-enhanced version redefines the interaction between the player and the air, elevating the art of the Shakuhachi to a new dimension of precision.
The Engineering of the "Singing Bat"
Through additional millimeter-precise cuts, we have redesigned the external and internal architecture of the utaguchi. The result is optimized aerodynamics that perfects the airflow split, enabling:
An exceptionally clean and well-defined tone.
Immediate articulation response.
Effortless access to harmonics in extremely high registers.
Ergonomics and Aesthetics
Innovation here is as much tactile as it is acoustic. The design now features an extension ring that flows from the main blowing edge, contouring the top rim. This not only enhances the instrument’s aesthetic but also provides the musician with unparalleled comfort and a perfect lip-fit, ensuring a more stable and natural embouchure.
Expanding Tonal Flexibility
Starting with our 2026 production batches, the Koumori 2.0 design will be available across all series. Additionally, we are introducing the option of an extended chin rest angle. This conscious departure from traditional Shakuhachi design grants the performer the ability to achieve tonal inflections of up to three semitones with unprecedented ease.
Koumori 2.0: Where ancient tradition meets the precision of the future.
