This honkyoku is a very old sonata (koten kyoku) that the komuso played while begging for alms 施 し (hodokoshi: giving / charity). This sonata sings gratitude to people that often given them foods such as rice, food that was cllected into the bowl, hence the name of this sonata: 1, 2, 3 Returning the bowl, a thanks for alms revived. It is then a musical piece of pure gratitude from the monk to whom he delivers his food donation. This is a very representative piece of the Japanese school Kinko Ryu Shakuhachi, just like Shika no tone.

Hi Fu Mi Hachigaeshi no Shirabe es una pieza musical muy antigua (koten kyoku) que los komuso tocaban mientras pedían limosna, lo cual entendemos en japonés como 施し (hodokoshi): dar o caridad. Este tema era una acción de gracias por recibir de las personas generalmente alimentos como el arroz, alimento que era echado en un cuenco, de allí el nombre de esta sonata: 1, 2, 3 regresa el cuenco. Se trata entonces de una pieza musical de pura gratitud del monje hacia quien entrega su donación de alimento. Esta es una pieza muy representativa de la escuela japonesa Kinko Ryu Shakuhachi, al igual que Shika no tone.
