Mumon Ryu es un sistema que se caracteriza por el uso de su propio repertorio musical para desarrollar maestría y entendimiento del shakuhachi, además de estudiar los más famosos honkyoku de la tradición komuso, así como géneros japoneses que hacen parte de la historia del instrumento. El sistema emplea ciertas técnicas y herramientas únicas como una flauta bajo muy larga (Odake-chokan 大太竹長管) para el desarrollo y fortalecimiento de la respiración, así como el harmonizer, que es una técnica propia del sistema que permite al intérprete realizar intervalos armónicos melódicos al unísono entre voz y sonido de la flauta. Mumon Ryu se identifica por el uso de un diseño exclusivo de boquilla de precisión en sus flautas que caracteriza el estilo y permite una mejor experiencia de soplo y sonido en el instrumento. La escuela sin puerta maneja su propio decálogo de comportamiento que no dista del pensamiento budista y el camino del bambú. Entre otras cosas más que hacen este sistema y disciplina algo especial en la práctica efectiva de vida.
Zapata sensei es un reconocido maestro de artes marciales certificado por dos organizaciones japonesas. Músico profesional, estrella de rock, compositor, intérprete y luthier de flautas japonesas, cantante, guitarrista, artista gráfico profesional y especialista en educación.
El Maestro Zapata desarrolló su propio método para lograr el dominio de la disciplina suizen y la maestría del shakuhachi. Alcanzó la maestría por sí mismo a través de la meditación y el estudio autónomo confinado algunos años en su propia casa estudio y dojo, así como realizando prácticas ascetas en retiros en bosques y lugares naturales salvajes, desafiando al viento con su propia flauta que hizo con un simple pedazo de bambú.
Mumon Ryu traduce "Escuela sin puerta", y es un método que se caracteriza por empoderar a sus estudiantes a encontrar su propio camino y auto exigirse a través de un estudio dedicado. El nombre proviene de una experiencia espiritual del maestro y fue acuñado por Zapata sensei para definir su propio método que promete entrenar a los estudiantes con un fuerte énfasis en su estudio autónomo, sabiduría y el despertar de la conciencia a través del zen soplado. Mumon Ryu es el linaje de los estudiantes de Zapata sensei.
El sistema de enseñanza va más allá de la idea de que el conocimiento sólo puede impartirse dentro de un recinto físico, Mumon Ryu, trasciende este significado literal y se centra en las barreras de la ignorancia que un individuo puede tener generando miles de puertas cerradas que no puede cruzar, entender o superar para liberarse de sus propios paradigmas y encontrar su propio dominio y realización.
El sistema de estudio emplea las propias flautas shakuhachi diseñadas, hechas a mano y contramarcadas por el maestro Zapata. Son construidas de bambú seleccionado taiwanés, japonés y colombiano. El sistema Mumon Ryu se distingue en el diseño incrustado en la boquilla de sus flautas tipo jiari, un triángulo invertido que Zapata sensei diseñó exclusivamente para esta razón, y evocan en sus dos tipos de diseño, un murciélago (Ref. BX3 Koumori Utaguchi) y un pájaro en vuelo (Ref- HB2 Hicho utaguchi).
El programa de estudio incluye sus propias sonatas compuestas por Zapata sensei, así como un repertorio abierto de honkyoku y música popular seleccionada y típica de la historia del shakuhachi, que permitirá al estudiante comprender el instrumento y dominarlo.
Hay 4 niveles de estudio seccionados en 3 ciclos de estudio cada uno, llenos de nuevos conocimientos y desafíos a superar para lograr el dominio. Mumon Ryu is a system that is characterized by the use of its own musical repertoire to develop mastery and understanding of the shakuhachi, in addition to studying the most famous honkyoku of the Komuso tradition, as well as Japanese genres that are part of the history of the instrument. The system employs certain unique techniques and tools such as a very long bass flute (Odake-chokan 大太竹長管) for breath development and strengthening. The harmonizer is a technique unique to the system that allows the player to perform melodic harmonic intervals in unison between the voice and the sound of the flute. Mumon Ryu is identified by the use of a unique precision mouthpiece design on its flutes that characterizes the style and allows for a better blowing and sounding experience on the instrument. The gateless school manages its own decalogue of behavior that is not far from Buddhist thought and the way of bamboo. Among other things that make this system and discipline something special in effective life practice.
Zapata sensei is a recognized martial arts master and certified by two japanese organizations. Professional musician, rock star, composer, player and luthier of Japanese flutes, singer, guitarrist, professional graphic artist and education specialist.
Master Zapata developed his own method to achieve mastery on suizen discipline and the shakuhachi domain. He gained mastery by himself thru meditation and hard dedicated self formed confined some years in his own Home Dojo Studio and practicing into the forests and wild natural places defying the wind with his own flute he made with a piece of bamboo.
Mumon Ryu translates "Gateless School", and is a method that is characterized by encouraging its students to find their own way and self-demand thru a dedicated study. The name came from a spiritual experience and was coined by Zapata sensei to define his own method that promises to train students with a strong emphasis on their self-knowledge, wisdom and awarness through the blowing zen. Mumon Ryu is the student lineage of Zapata sensei.
The system goes beyond the idea that knowledge can only be imparted within a physical enclosure, Mumon Ryu, transcends this literal meaning and focuses on the barriers of ignorance that an individual may have generating thousands of locked doors that they cannot cross, understand or overcome to break free from their own paradigms and find their own mastery and realization.
The study system employs the Master Zapata's own shakuhachi flutes, handcrafted and countermarked by master Zapata. Made with selected Japanese and Colombian bamboo. The Mumon Ryu system is distinguished by the design inlay in the mouthpiece of its jiari-type flutes, an inverted triangle that Zapata sensei designed exclusively for this reason, and evoke in their two types of design, a bat (Ref. BX3 Koumori Utaguchi) and a bird in flight (Ref- HB2 Hicho utaguchi).
The study program includes its own sonatas composed by Zapata sensei, as well as an open repertoire of honkyoku and folk music selected and typical of the history of shakuhachi, which will allow the student to undesrtand the instrument and master it.
