EverGreen (Jōryoku Chiku 常緑竹) has arrived as the newest design gracing the Zapata GEM Series shakuhachi flute collection. Born from the hues and organic textures of living bamboo, the Gem EverGreen invites you to hold it, breathe through it, and release a sound that echoes the rustling of a bamboo grove – a truly mesmerizing tone and sonic journey.
The Vision Behind the Design
The notion of "evergreen" holds within it the image of a spirit unbent, whole, and in its purest state. Undaunted by the accumulating years and the jarring din that obscures and misleads, this essence remains untarnished, vital, and luminous, longing to gleam again when it rediscovers its own being. Evergreen is that flame within you, once allowed to fade, now patiently flickering, awaiting your touch to be reborn into the most unburdened, genuine, and renewed version of yourself.
ial Features of the New GEM Series Design
This design draws its inspiration from the natural palette and patterned forms of untouched bamboo. To hold, breathe life into, and sound a Gem EverGreen flute is to feel the wind's voice and be transported to a bamboo forest, its tone and resonance utterly captivating. The inspiration for this design comes from the inherent beauty and structural grace of bamboo, which has been meticulously prepared over at least two years of curating and dehydration. The exquisite "skin" of the flute is the result of an elaborate and detailed artistic coloring process. Playing a Gem EverGreen flute connects you to the very soul of the wind, evoking the mesmerizing tones and resonance of a bamboo grove.
Ultra-thin, precision-inlaid mouthpiece, referencing the "Singing Bat Mouth," for enhanced experience and control across its three registers.
The flute's embouchure (chin rest area) features a more open angle than conventional designs. This innovative cut provides maximum control over tonal increases and decreases through inflections (utilizing the meri-kari technique), allowing for a remarkable range of up to three semitones from the affected principal tone.
Thanks to its Jiari-type construction, the inner coating of this flute ensures not only flawless intonation and accuraley tune but also cultivates a tone of exquisite equilibrium, where sparkling highs, deep bass, and warm mids harmonize perfectly.
Customizable Tuning & Exclusive Craftsmanship
This flute collection offers full customization in any tuning key, ranging from the standard 1.8 D4 and 2.0 C4, down to bass versions in B3, A3, G3, and F3, all precisely tuned to the global standard of 440 Hz.
